Still, Stella offered no response, refraining even from expressing her anger.

Finally, he sighed softly. “If you’re open to giving her another chance, please come to my club. We’ll be waiting for you.”

Upon spotting her, Devyn jumped to her feet, visibly shaken. She seemed like she wanted to speak to Stella, yet fear held her back.
Stella, noticing Devyn’s discomfort, took the initiative and asked, “How’s your mother?”
Devyn gave a slow nod, her voice low. “She’s better now. We’re just waiting for a suitable kidney donor.”
Slater watched the interaction quietly. Devyn stood rigid, while Stella maintained a solemn expression.
He suggested, “Why don’t you both sit down?”

Tears welled up in her eyes, her voice breaking as she continued earnestly, “I had no other option. My mother was critically ill, and I needed a lot of money. My brother, lost to gambling, was no help, and I had already spent all my savings. That’s why I did what I did.”
Yet Stella remained silent throughout.
